End-point assessment (EPA) tests the knowledge, skills and behaviours that an apprentice has gained during their training. Unique to each apprenticeship standard, EPA demonstrates the competence of an apprentice in their role. This competence is valued by current and future employers.
Each Apprenticeship Standard is either classed as having an Integrated EPA or a Non-Integrated EPA.
- For Integrated EPA, Sheffield Hallam acts as the EPA Organisation and the assessment tasks are normally embedded in the final credit bearing module. Your course Team will have more information on how this works and can answer any questions. Please see our handbook written for Apprentices, employer mentors, Independent Assessors and other stakeholders: Sheffield Hallam EPA Handbook 24-25 v1.0 1
- Non Integrated EPA is conducted by an external third party EPA Organisation, after the award credits have been achieved. Graduation invites are normally send after the EPA. Your course leader and Coach can can direct you to further guidance on how the external EPA Organisation will run those assessment tasks. Guidance on End Point Assessment Organisations (EPAO) can be found here: Finding an end-point assessment organisation – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
