NERUPI: Exploring evaluation and widening participation beyond Hallam
STEER supports the development of evaluation practices across access, success and progress areas of the student experience at Hallam. We also have an external profile and are connected to a number of sector organisations. Colleagues may be interested in the work of NERUPI. We regularly attend and present at group meetings and events, some of which may be of interest to others at Hallam.
NERUPI is a partnership of over 70 higher education organisations working together to create a new approach to evaluation using the framework developed by Annette Hayton, University of Bath and Dr Andrew Bengry, Bath Spa University.
The Network may be useful for those with an interest in widening participation including academics and practitioners working in outreach and recruitment, student support, student attainment and success, careers and employability, monitoring and evaluation roles.
Upcoming events include:
- Engaging Learners in Online Delivery
- Unequal Opportunities: Graduate Employability & Progression
- Mature Students and Higher Education: Challenges and Opportunities
All staff and research students at Hallam can join the network by selecting ‘Become a Member’ on the NERPUI website (http://www.nerupi.co.uk) and completing the registration.
The main benefit of joining NERUPI is the ready-made community of like-minded professionals. Membership benefits also include:
- Free attendance at expert workshops combining presentations on key issues for widening participation with practical sessions focussed on developing members’ own evaluation resources – events are running online until at least spring 2021
- Access to a range of resources and tools from the members only section of the NERUPI website to support the planning, evaluation and reporting process using the full NERUPI Framework
- Engagement in Network activities and working groups to develop members’ expertise and capacity in evaluation approaches and methods
- Participation in the annual NERUPI Convention providing opportunities for members to present their findings, develop the Framework and keep up to date with national developments
This year the Network aims to offer representatives more opportunities to share case studies, read updates from working groups, learn about developments from within the Network and hear news from the sector.
If you are interested in learning more about the Network please contact Alan Donnelly (a.donnelly@shu.ac.uk) in STEER who works closely with NERUPI as our institutional lead.
