If you have lived outside of the UK for 12 months or more (whether continuously or in total) in the last 10 years, while aged 18 or over, you must provide a ‘Criminal Record Certificate’ from the relevant country. Guidance on how to request this can be found here.
Please apply for the Criminal Record Certificate as soon as possible, as they can take some time to arrive. Once you have the documents, please email them to professionalchecks@shu.ac.uk
Overseas/Tier 2 (General) visa applicants
If you are applying for a PGCE course, you must complete all the professional checks before you can be issued with a Certificate of Acceptance to Study (CAS) which will enable you to apply for a visa. Upon arrival in the UK you will still need to do a DBS check, giving your new UK address. Please ensure you bring identity documents with you.
