Maria Fernanda Marreta – our new professional services visitor from Brazil

We are delighted to welcome a new Research and Innovation Services visitor.
Maria Fernanda Marreta is from Brazil and works at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science (ICMC), which is one of the research and teaching units of the University of São Paulo (USP), the main university in Brazil and Latin America. According to QS World University, USP has been recently ranked the 85th best university in the world.
ICMC completed 50 years in 2021 and is one of the main Brazilian institutions in the areas of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computing and Statistics, being recognized worldwide as a center of excellence regarding production and dissemination of knowledge.
At ICMC, Maria Fernanda is involved with the activities of CeMEAI, Center for Mathematical Sciences Applied to Industry, giving support for researchers and students.The Center develops projects and research in areas related to Data Science, Applied Optimization & Operations Research and Computational Fluid Mechanics and has funding from the State Foundation of the Government of São Paulo.
The Center includes more than 100 researchers, 70 Postdocs and 260 PhD Students and is located in ICMC and there are teams in other Universities in several cities of the state of São Paulo.
Maria Fernanda Marreta is going to stay at Sheffield Hallam University for two months, following the activities at the Research and Innovation Services to learn more about Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Hallam values and behaviours working alongside Anita Gurney, Jane Wright and Márjory Da Costa Abreu.
We welcome Fernanda, and look forward to hearing all the excellent good practice in CeMEAI, and collaborating on this and I’m sure many future projects.
