A session plan for your online synchronous learning and teaching

In the Interactive Lecture session, tutors deliver taught content and students take part in activities to check and develop their understanding. Use the plan ‘off the peg’, or customise to the requirements of your session. Two other session plans, the Collaborative Creation session and the Problem-based/scenario-based session, are also available.

In addition to the session plan above, the generic, student-facing information below describes and supports this session. Copy the text to the module Blackboard site and adapt it to reflect your session’s requirements.
This information should be provided along with,
- the join link for the session, or instructions on how to join
- any session resources/handouts and
- any specific questions, instructions, details of tasks etc. students will be asked to undertake, for example whilst in breakout groups

In this timetabled, online session your tutor will deliver taught content. You will also take part in activities to check and develop your understanding.
To ensure you can participate effectively, please find a distraction-free environment with good internet connectivity to work in. Please take some time prior to the session to familiarise yourself with any tools and approaches that will be used. For this session, this might include:
- Listening and note-making
- Contributing to online activities, discussions and Q&A as directed by your tutor
- Using the chat function and other standard features of online platforms like Blackboard Collaborate or Microsoft Teams
- Responding to questions posed and undertaking activities via tools like Padlet and EchoPoll
