Movement is beneficial for both physical and mental health, yet only 1 in 4 women meet national physical activity guidelines during pregnancy and first year after childbirth.

Dr Marlize De Vivo and Dr Emily Lovett have written for This Girl Can about why pregnancy and postnatal activity messaging must go beyond telling women to be active, and to recognise their fears, societal pressures and lived realities if they are to create the conditions that make movement feel possible.
