Healthy and Active 100

We’re delighted that that AWRC visiting researcher Professor Susan Hampshaw has been appointed Associate Dean of Infrastructure and Capacity Building in the NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) Academy.

Based at Doncaster Council, Susan is the Director of the Health Determinants Research Collaboration Doncaster (HDRC), an NIHR-funded partnership between Sheffield Hallam University, The University of Sheffield and Doncaster Council. The HDRC works to reduce health inequalities and address the wider determinants of health by embedding a culture of research and evidence-based decision making in local government.

An appointment to the NIHR Academy is testament to Susan’s long-standing commitment to building research capacity in health and social care in South Yorkshire.

Through the three-year tenure, she will play a key leadership role in developing the NIHR training and career development pipeline, helping to grow research capacity through the health and social care workforce.

We wish Susan all the best in this exciting new role!
