Cancer prehabilitation clinical and implementation guidelines pre-launch hosted at AWRC
The pre-launch of the clinical and implementation guidelines for prehabilitation in people with cancer was hosted at the AWRC yesterday.

Building on the 2018 guidance document, the 2025 guidelines have been developed by a series of multi-disciplinary and multi-speciality working groups and patient voices and involved a rigorous evidence synthesis including the review of over 9,000 papers.
AWRC Director Rob Copeland led the behaviour change and technology working group, which also involved Dr Liam Humphreys. Dr Carol Keen sat on the health economics working group.
The outputs include an agreed definition of prehabilitation along with a set of statements and recommendations structured around 11 key themes, all with patient engagement and co-design at their heart.
Thank you to the guideline development group co-chairs Professor Mike Grocott and June Davis for speaking, and it was great to see so many in attendance.
A summary document will be published by Macmillan Cancer Support in August, with more events and publications to come including the World Prehab Congress in November.
Congratulations to everyone involved on this fantastic milestone.
