The Guardian visits the AWRC to learn about lung health
Have you ever wondered what happens inside the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre state-of-the-art physiology and human performance lab?
The lab is utilised by researchers across Sheffield Hallam University, including our School of Sport and Physical Activity Physical Activity, Wellbeing and Public Health (PAWPH) Research Group who conduct applied research that supports people to lead healthy and active lives by preventing and treating long term conditions.
Last week, Phil Daoust of The Guardian visited PAWPH researchers Alex Bugg and Anouska Carter at the AWRC to learn more about lung capacity, efficiency and power, and to experience first-hand how we test lung health in the lab, including spirometry and VO2 max testing.
