Course teams should aim to deliver on campus sessions consecutively in 4 or 8 hour blocks in specified spaces.   Such blocks would normally involve teaching from several modules.   Course teams will have freedom in how time within these blocks is allocated.  Timetable need to be informed of groupings.

  1. This measure would suit students who prefer their on-campus activities grouped together and/or want to minimise the number of times they attend the campus.
  2. It will also support the development of a community.
  3. Appropriately scheduled it would provide students with access to academic staff and reduce the amount of travel for academic staff between campus and home.
  4. The need for gaps for cleaning between shorter sessions would be reduced.
  5. There are challenges from a timetabling perspective, and this will require scheduling alongside the current timetable, so avoiding a total rework of the existing schedule because there is not the time.
  6. It will be dependent on requirements for specialist spaces (as described in Learning Groups).
  7. Timeslots for online synchronous sessions that require all students to attend would be limited.
