Episode 0 – What is SoTL with Sarah Haywood-Small

Joining Joel is Sarah Haywood-Small who is an Associate Head in the School of Biosciences and Chemistry at Sheffield Hallam University. We will try to deconstruct the term SoTL, and what it could mean for your teaching practice and career.

Episode 1 -Mattering Belonging and Happiness with Sam Coulby and Jason Arday from the University of Cambridge

Joining Joel is Professor Jason Arday from University of Cambridge and Sam Coulby from the EEDI team at Sheffield Hallam University to look at the pedagogy concepts of belonging, mattering and kindness.

Episode 2 – Inclusive Practice in LTA Nikki Martin from South Bank University and Dave Thomas from Solent University

Joining Joel to discuss inclusive practice is Professor Nikki Martin (London Southbank) and Associate Professor Dave Thomas (Solent Uni) looking at a range of inclusive LTA practices and ideas that lecturers/teaching staff could consider to innovate their LTA.

Episode 3 – Working With Autistic Students with Luke Beardon

Joining Joel is senior lecturer in autism Dr Luke Bearden from The Autism Centre at Sheffield Hallam University. This episode explores some ideas to help teaching staff improve the learning experience for autistic students, which would make fantastic SoTL projects.

Episode 4 – Formative Assessment and Feedback with Gordon Young

Gordon Young (Deputy Director of Sheffield Creative Industries Institute) joins Joel to discuss the merits of formative assessment and feedback and ideas for how to include it in your teaching and learning practice and potential SoTL projects!

Episode 5 – Large Cohort LTA with Teri-lisa Griffiths and Rachel Schwartz-Narbonne

Joel is joined by Teri-lisa Griffiths (senior lecturer from the Institute of Law & Justice), and Rachel Schwartz-Narbonne (senior lecturer from the School of Biosciences and Chemistry) from Sheffield Hallam University as they discuss the opportunities to innovate teaching and learning with large student cohorts.

Episode 6 – Inclusive Practice in STEM with Sarah Forbes and Oliver Lewis

Join Joel, and Oliver Lewis (Associate Head in the School of Engineering and Built Environment) and Sarah Forbes (Associate Head in the School of Biosciences and Chemistry) to explore the fascinating world of STEM education and how we can make it a space where all students and staff can thrive.

Episode 7 – Generative AI in LTA with Sue Beckingham and Georgina Thornley

Join Joel as he talks with Gina Thornley (Sheffield Business School) and Sue Beckingham (Sheffield Hallam University) talk about the exciting opportunities GenAI can bring to LTA in higher education.

Episode 8 – Trauma Informed LTA Practice with Sue O’Brien and Sally Pearse

Sally Pearce and Sue O’Brien from the Sheffield Institute of Education join Joel to discuss the topic of trauma-informed teaching practice.

Episode 9 – My Story with SoTL with Liz Mossop

Joel is joined by Sheffield Hallam VC Liz Mossop who talks about her career and the importance of SoTL.

We hope these conversations help to enable you to reflect on your own LTA practice, and spot opportunities to innovate and implement something new to plus your practice, tackle issues, and take advantage of opportunities through our SoTL @ SHU Network.
