PhD Thesis Title: Intermediate Pyrolysis of Food Waste
Director of Studies: Dr Hessam Jahangiri
Supervisors: Dr Mukesh Goel, Dr Hongwei Zhang

SUMMARY

I hold an MSc in Chemical Engineering (gas processing and transmission) from Shiraz University of Technology, Iran. My research interests include sustainable energy production from micro-organisms and waste, carbon capture and storage, and industrial biotechnology.

RESEARCH

I am researching the conversion of food and organic waste into biofuels to aid the UK’s decarbonisation efforts.

My research focuses on utilising an advanced intermediate pyrolysis system coupled with a hydroprocessing unit to upgrade the produced bio-oil, which can be used as a drop-in fuel for the transportation sector.

This work promotes sustainable waste management, reduces the food industry’s carbon footprint, and supports the transition to sustainable transportation fuels, thereby contributing to net-zero goals.
