PhD Thesis Title: Computational Chemistry and Machine Learning Driven Rational Catalyst Design for CO2 Utilisation
Director of Studies: Dr Alex Hamilton
Supervisor: Professor Alex Shenfield

SUMMARY

Ryan Lewis achieved his BSc Hons Chemistry at Sheffield Hallam University. He is currently studying his PhD under the supervision of Dr Alex Hamilton.

RESEARCH

Ryan’s PhD research encompasses the use of Density Functional Theory (DFT) and other computational techniques to study the mechanistic action of heavier group 13 catalysts for the cycloaddition of 3-memebered heterocyclic rings and CO2.

He also will be incorporating machine learning techniques to aid the exploration of chemical space in this area in the search for highly effective novel catalysts.
