Tom delivering his webinar

Last year, Barnsley College T-Level Digital Support Services student Tom Ashforth spent several months on placement with the School of Sport and Physical Activity at the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC).

This week, Tom and his placement lead, Head of Research Dr Simon Goodwill, participated in a Career Development Institute webinar on the importance and impact of hosting T-Level students with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) on placement.

Simon emphasised the shared value of hosting T-Level SEND students, reframing SEND adaptations as enhancements that can create a positive impact for both the employer and the student.

Tom shared insights from his placement and said that the tailored experience, which considered his individual needs, has allowed him to continue to thrive in his academic journey.
