As research hub of the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM), the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) as part of Sheffield Hallam University was proud to sponsor the Educational Champion of the Year at this evening’s inaugural Move More awards.

The fantastic ceremony this evening celebrated those creating impact through sport, exercise, and physical activity across Sheffield – especially at community and grassroots level.

The winner of the Educational Champion of the Year award was Tom Hancock of Nether Green Junior School who impressed the judges with his clear passion and dedication to ensuring a diverse and inclusive range of sports for his pupils.

He has twice redesigned the school curriculum to increase and widen participation, learning and knowledge, and has a track record of bringing in external partners such as the B. Braun Sheffield Hatters and Sheffield United Community Foundation to enhance school sport and the extra-curricular offer.

The ceremony was hosted by Andy Giddings, with speeches from South Yorkshire Active Travel Commissioner Ed Clancy OBE and Olympic medallist Yasmin Harper.

Thanks to the Move More team for a fantastic evening and a huge congratulations to all winners!
