The AWRC-led Physical Activity Clinical Champion (PACC) programme has been promoted in NHS England’s new position statement on physical activity – Harnessing the Benefits of Physical Activity Across the NHS in England.

The statement outlines how embedding physical activity can transform care systems and communities. It provides guidance for health and care professionals in England, and highlights the benefits and evidence base for embedding physical activity across systems and communities.

The Sport England funded PACC programme empowers health and care professionals to promote physical activity within their everyday practice, and has upskilled over 58,000 healthcare workers in physical activity promotion. It was recognised by the World Health Organisation global action plan on physical activity (2018 -2030) as good practice.

As a Centre, we are pleased to have been able to contribute to the development of the statement, and to see such strong alignment with our recently published policy report on preventative health and physical activity.
