Meet our 2024 Accelerator Cohort: FLX Health
In today’s blog, we speak to Robert Lewis, Co-Founder of FLX Health to hear more about the company and what they would like to achieve from participating in the Advanced Wellbeing Accelerator programme.
Hi Robert! First of all, can you tell us about how you developed your business idea and what stage are you at now?
It came from an interest in the overall health benefits of physical activity on general health after attending a Sheffield Hallam event and hearing Sheffield GP Ollie Hart talk about it in last corporate role in around 2014. That lead to the initiation of a project that introduced me to my co-founder, 7 years later we had developed the product ourselves!
We have a commercial product and we’re now looking to scale in and hope to leverage the AWRC Accelerator to achieve that.
What healthcare challenge do you address?
We address musculoskeletal health by improving the way people move using our expert system built on novel biomechancial algorithms. We address biomechanical dysfunction to help people self-manage pain, reduce the risk of future musculoskeletal disease and injury, and help better movement, functionality, flexibility and range of motion.
What do you see as the main UK and international opportunities for your business?
We currently market into organisations who want to improve the musculoskeletal health of their employees to keep them safe at work and ensure they are able to enjoy their leisure time. We are also looking at health insurance, health service, military and emergency services, and any products or services that have an interest in musculoskeletal health like medicines, devices, sports, fitness, etc.
What’s next?
Developing and building our team to scale up our commercialisation to establish a sustainable business.
Thanks for chatting with us today, Robert, and best of luck with your product development.
