  • the time you spend can count towards “off-the-job training”

Celebrating apprenticeships and achievement

The Hallam Award is a personal development programme that helps you make the most of your time here at Hallam. Check how you could gain recognition for your contribution and participation in community activities, by visiting the Hallam Award page on the Sheffield Hallam Careers and Employability site. The attributes you develop through this activity are likely to relate well to the behavioural development required in your Apprenticeship Standard.

You can also focus on the work-related impact and contribution you are driving towards as part of your apprenticeship. There are some great categories in the Sheffield Hallam Inspirational Student Award. including specific ones for Apprentices.

Outside the University there are various Apprentice of the Year awards you can apply for, including South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards and The National Apprentice of the year awards.  There are alo sector specific awards to look out for.

Talk to your Apprenticeship Coach about how you can get support. Remember to check your employer is willing to support your nomination and application.

Taking part in a case study with the University can help with the application process. This can also support the University when communicating the benefits of degree apprenticeships to potential applicants and employers. We love to celebrate the impact and difference our apprentices make in their jobs, through projects and for the clients, customers and sector developments they get involved with.  We will often publish achievements through our National Centre of Excellence for Degree Apprenticeships
